Intermediate Process Engineer

Working under the Senior Process Engineer and the Project Manager, the Intermediate Process Engineer will provide process design, process safety and process development to the organization while ensuring that technical excellence, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements are achieved. They are responsible for detailed execution of various sizes of projects and studies.

The responsibilities for this position are as follows:

Complete the following detailed engineering design activities:

  • Modeling, simulations and calculations of process units and process systems
  • Participate in HAZOP meetings
  • Generate control narratives
  • Prepare start-up / operating manual

Preparation and review of process engineering project deliverables including:

  • Project design criteria, design basis and process specifications
  • Developing and stamping of key design documents (Material Balance, PFD’s, P&ID’s and Shutdown Keys) Process data on control valves, PSV and instrument data sheet
  • Sizing of equipment, piping, safety and control instruments and data sheets
  • Play a vital role in the PRE-FEED and FEED stages of the project
  • Assist with vendor technical bid evaluations for equipment
  • Provide technical support to field personnel for start-up

Support the ongoing operations at Tundra Engineering:

  • Troubleshooting, problem solving and support for the engineering team
  • Supervision and checking of process work from junior engineers, including sign off
  • Development of process engineering studies and technical notes
  • Preparation of reports and recommendations for new technologies
  • Development of process control and safety design philosophies
  • Support Tundra Engineering’s HSE initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior related experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in an EPCM environment
  • Travel as required to ensure the successful execution of projects
  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Professional engineering registered or eligible for registry with APEGA
  • Strong working knowledge of piping systems, P&IDs, PFDs and simulation software (Hysys, VMGSim, Pipeflo)
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work ad adapt in a flexible, fast paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, team work, planning and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications and presentations
